Research Abstract

酸化チタン光触媒は環境調和型触媒として水中の微量有機有害物質の分解除去や大気中のNOx除去などの環境浄化用触媒として注目されているが、大規模な光触媒プロセスの実用化には利用に適した形態の光触媒の構築と光触媒のさらなる高活性化が望まれる。本研究では、ドライなプロセスとしてのクラスターイオンビーム(ICB)法を用いて多孔性ガラス(PVG)基板上に、高活性かつ透明な薄膜酸化チタン光触媒を調製することを検討し、さらに、イオン注入法の適用により可視光を吸収し可視光照射下で高効率に機能する薄膜状の酸化チタン光触媒の調製を目指した。また、調製した光触媒のNOの直接分解反応における光触媒活性の評価を行った。
ICB法を用いることによりPVG上に膜厚を任意に制御して均一かつ透明な薄膜状の酸化チタン光触媒を調製することに成功した。薄膜酸化チタン光触媒のUV-VISおよびXAFS測定により、膜厚が300nm以下の極めて薄い試料でさえも結晶性の良い均一なアナタース型の酸化チタン層が形成されていることがわかった。NO存在下で薄膜酸化チタンを紫外光(λ>270nm)照射するとNOの光触媒分解反応が進行し、N_2とO_2およびN_2Oが生成した。また、イオン注入法により薄膜状酸化チタン光触媒にCrイオンを注入すると、Crイオンの注入量に依存して薄膜状酸化チタンの吸収全体が長波長側にシフトし可視光化が出来ることを見いだした。さらに、NO存在下Crイオンを注入した薄膜酸化チタンを可視光(λ>450nm)で照射するとNOの光触媒分解反応が進行し、光照射時間に比例してN_2とO_2およびN_2Oが生成した。これらの研究結果より、ICB法やイオン注入法などイオン工学的手法を触媒調製段階に用いることで実用に適した形態を有し、可視光を吸収し可視光で機能する薄膜状の酸化チタン光触媒の調製が可能であることを明らかにした。これらの成果は、可視光で機能する薄膜状酸化チタンの大規模実用化への道を拓くものであるといえる。
