Research Abstract

近年、酸化チタンを用いた光触媒反応の環境浄化への応用研究が盛んであるが、生活環境中に存在する有害汚染物質は極めて希薄であるため、効率良い光触媒反応を行うためには有害物質を吸着し濃縮する機能と光触媒作用を組み合わせ持つ光触媒の構築が望ましい。このため、活性炭などの吸着剤への酸化チタン光触媒の構築が検討課題である。本研究では、活性炭が燃焼することのない300-500Kの比較的低温で酸素雰囲気下での蒸着が可能なクラスターイオンビーム(ICB)法を駆使することで、酸化チタン光触媒を可能性の活性炭素繊維(ACF)の表面上に構築することを試み、この触媒系を用いた水中の有機化合物の光触媒酸化分解除去反応を行った。さらに、各種分光法を利用した光触媒のキャラクタリゼーションおよび酸化チタン光触媒の触媒焼成温度やACFの表面積が光触媒活性に及ぼす影響について検討した。
ICB法により調製したTiO2/ACFのXRD測定は蒸着担持したTiO2がACF上でアナタース構造をとることを示し、従来法では不可能であった低温でのACF上への高結晶性酸化チタンの固定化担持に成功した。TiO2/AFCはUV光照射下において2-プロパノールをアセトンと二酸化炭素に分解し、含浸法等の従来法で調製したTiO2/ACF光触媒に比べ高い光触媒反応活性を示すことがわかった。この反応活性の相違は、ICB法調製TiO2/ACF触媒上における酸化チタンの高い結晶性に基づくことがXPS測定により示唆された。また、ICB法により表面積の異なるACFに同じ担持量のTiO2を蒸着させ光触媒反応活性を比較検討したところ、触媒上への2-プロパノール吸着量および光触媒活性とも表面積の増加に従い増加し、反応物質の吸着量と光触媒反応活性には高い相関性があることがわかった。
以上の結果より、ICB法を用いてACF上にTiO2を固定化担持することにより、反応基質の吸着能と高い光触媒活性を兼ね備えた光触媒系の構築が可能となることが明らかとなった。これらの成果は、ダイオキシンなどの有害物質で汚染され、水の浄化に期待されているTiO2/ACF光触媒の構築が可能であることを示唆しており、今後の展開が期待される。
