Research Abstract

本年度は「総合脳」での活動を総括して、今後の継続的な脳研究の発展を継続的に推進するための準備を行なった。具体的には、学術月報平成15年4月号で脳研究の特集を組み、現時点での特筆すべき研究領域の紹介と共に、今後の脳研究の進むべき方向についての座談会を行い、出版を通じて広く良いに問うた。そして平成16年度より新たに立ち上げることを計画している、脳研究全体を統括する特定領域研究「統合脳」をどのようなスコープをもった班にするかについて、申請代表者に就任する予定の丹治教授と議論を重ね、総合脳の活動の中で特に高い評価を受けた研究素材開発や実験動物の確保のための支援事業を継続し、データベース構築の活動と連携させるべきであるという結論を得た。
また、総合脳の活動の特筆すべき成果のひとつとして実験動物、特にサルの供給体制を充実するための施策があったが、この事業は平成14年度より開始された文部科学省のナショナルバイオリソースプロジェクトでの「ニホンザル」プロジェクトの発足につながった。このニホンザルバイオリソースプロジェクトは現在2年目を迎えているが、繁殖センターへの母群の確保や情報公開などの問題に直面している。このような問題を解決するために社会への説明や倫理面への配慮をどのようにするかについて議論をおこない、事業の円滑な推進のための助力を行なった。
