Research Abstract |
A synthesized Na-type fluoro-tetrasilisic mica, the various oxides chemically pillared micas, and layered oxides of Na_<0.9>Mo_2O_4 and Na_2Ti_3O_7 were selected as intercatating compounds and their absorption ability of gases into their interlayers was investigated. These compounds were soaked in the various gases atmospheres at room temperature. As-synthesized fluoro-tetrasilisic mica without gas absorption treatment desorped H_2O at 130℃ and CO_2 at 160℃ during heating, showing ability to separate these two gases. Alumina pillared fluoro-tetrasilisic mica desorped NO, CO, adn CH_4 gases during heating, after these gas treatments. This material also desorped NO gas, even after NO_2 gas treatment. As the desorption temperature of NO gas was different after NO gas treatment and NO_2 gas treatment, the absorption state of two gases would be different. Both zircona pillared and chromia pillared fluoro-tetrasilisic micas also desorped NO gas at different temperatures, after NO gas treatmen

t and NO_2 gas treatment. The layered oxide of Na_<0.9>Mo_2O_4 desorped NO gas at the same temperature of 250℃, after both treatments of NO and NO_2 gases. The result suggests that Na_<0.9>Mo_2O_4 absorps NO_2 gas as NO.This suggestion was supported by the measurement of IR spectra of gas absorpted samples. The compound of Na_2Ti_3O_7 desorpted NO and CO gases during heating, showing these gas absorption ability. The measurement of X-ray powder diffraction showed that the interlayer distance of alumina pillared fluoro-tetrasilisic mica spread after the absorption of NO gas and that the interlayer distance of other compounds did not change even after any gas absorption. The existence of Na at the position of interlayer of the compounds was not necessarily confirmed to act the basic points to absorp the acid gases. The clear relation between the properties of the intercalating compounds and the absorping gases could not be drawn from the results obtained in this study and it is necessary to accumulate much data to obtain the relation. The important materials to be candidates would be novel zeolites that have a fitting vacant space in their structure. Less
