Research Abstract |
THERE ARE HYPOXIC CELLS IN THE TUMOR AS A RESISTANCE FACTOR OF TREATMENT FOR A RADIATION.IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THE RATE OF HYPOXIC CELLS IN THE TUMOR, THAT IS, OXYGEN CONDITION OF THE TUMOR FOR THE DECISION OF THE TREATMENT PRINCIPLE. BY THIS REASON, BEFORE AND DURING A RADIATION TREATMENT, A DEGREE OF OXYGEN SATURATION IN THE TUMOR OF PATIENTS IS MEASURED BY USING NEAR-INFRARED SPECTROSCOPY AND RELATION WITH EFFECT ON TREATMENT IS EXAMINED.AS A RESULT OF MEASURING A DEGREE OF OXYGEN SATURATION IN THE TUMOR WITH NON INVASIVE OXYGENATION MONITOR (OM-200, SHIMADZU) AND OMEGAOXYMETER (OMEGAMONITOR, BOM-L1), IT COULD SHOW A TENDENCY TO GET THE GOOD TUMOR REDUCTION RATE FOR A DEGREE OF OXYGEN SATURATION BEFORE THE TREATMENT WHICH TO BE RESPECTIVELY SUPERIOR IN 70%, 60% AND MORE.THE TUMOR THAT DEGREES OF OXYGEN SATURATION IN THE TUMOR INCREASE BY 10GY IRRADIATION (AFTER AN IRRADIATION START SEVERAL DAYS) SHOWS HIGH SENSITIVITY TOWARD THE RADIATION, AND SEEMS THAT IT CAN EXPECT AN EFFECTIVE TUMOR REDUCTION RATE. RADIO-ACTIVE COMPOUNDS WHICH ACCUMULATE INTO THE HYPOXIC CELLS WERE DEVELOPED FOR THE PURPOSE OF NUN-INVASIVE MEASURING BY SPECT.A LOTS OF FUNDAMENTAL EXPERIMENTS WERE DONE TO PREPARE FOR THE PATENT APPLICATION.FOR ANOTHER METHOD TO RECOGNIZE HYPOXIC CELLS IN THE TUMOR, PIMONIDAZOLE WHICH ALSO ACCUMULATE INTO THE HYPOXIC CELLS WAS DETECTED BY IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY WITH ANTI-PIMONIDAZOLE ANTIBODY.
