| Research Abstract |
We have investigated the human intestine histologically and found that few intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL) could be detected in the neonatal intestine and there were so many IEL detected in the intestine of a young girl (3 years old).
In the neonatal appendix there are some small lymphoid tissues detected in the lamina propria which have been named as primary isolated lymphoid follicles in the text book of histology. These lymphoid tissues mainly consist of CD19 positive small lymphoid cells. CD3 positive cells are distributed scattery in the lymphoid tissues and very few c-kit positive cells exist in the periphery of the tissues. We could not find out any cryptopatch-like lymphoid tissues in the human intestine. So far we concluded that in the human intestine there is no cryptopatch detected. Considering that there are some IEL in the neonatal intestine, it might be possible that cryptopatch-like lymphoid exist in the intestine during the fetal life in human being.
