Research Abstract |
There are two characteristic points in this research. Firstly, studying Soviet History within the framework of the period between the World Wars, we can present a new vision of it. For example, it became concretely clear that experiences during the First World War and thoughts in the age of a total war had had great influences on the process of making the Soviet system after the Russian Revolution. Formation of the Soviet political and economic system in 1930s was also closely connected with the menace of the world war and the transformation to the wartime regime. These problems are studied in the subjects of culture and politics. Secondly, the Soviet Socialist system is studied from various aspects and angles. We got a lot of results in the fields of linguistics, philosophy, politics, economics, historical science, literature, cultural studies and arts. For example, works and attitudes of artists, such as Mandel'shtam and Eizenshtein are sufficiently analyzed in the political context of Stalinist system in 1930s. Studies on origins and meanings of the "Soviet patriotism" through analysis of the social structure and the social consciousness in the Soviet Uuion helped us to understand actual situations of Stalinist system in the latter half of 1930s. In addition to these points, we got many useful results not only in the field of Soviet history but also in ideologies and thoughts of present Russia by analyzing historical view points of the "eurasians" or the Russian nationalists in 1990s.
