Research Abstract |
The aim of this research is to analyze tribological properties of new porous carbon materials "RB ceramics" which is made of defatted rice bran impregnated with phenol resin and carbonized in a vacuum furnace at high temperatures. From the research in 1998, it is obtained that friction coefficient and specific wear rate of RB ceramics decrease with carbonizing temperature, under dry condition, oil impregnated condition or in water. From the research in 1999, it is obtained that a linear slide bearing can be made by using RB ceramics, and it shows low noise because difference of static friction and kinetic friction is very small. From the research in 2000, it is obtained that RB ceramics shows no noise or no severe wear even in high contact pressure, so RB ceramics can be used as new clutch materials.
