This study develops the theme of the preceding article, " How can we locate the concept 'Home' from the point of value", in which we clarified the political and ideological intention of the famous song titled 'My Home (**)' which conceals the intention cunningly behind a very lyric surface.
Now we search how this concept is treated in 31 high school music text books from the Meiji Era to the Word War II, found in the Library of Kyoto University of Education, because they seem to be sung by students who come to the level of spiritual maturity and can realize the nostalgic feeling.
After the examination of historical location of materials, compared to elementary school music text books, we elect songs in which the concept 'Home' is directly sung and find the following facts.
(1) In the Meiji Era, man is not concerned with home-land, but with his home in itself and really enjoy his stay in home.
(2) As the dme is going on, the motif of returning to home was thematized , and 'my home' began to loose its concreteness and became abstract Just corresponding to the tendency, the country nature came to the front and the nostalgic feeling began to appear.
(3) But, at this level, that is to say, until the Taisho Era, this nostalgic feeling was very pure, because in it we cannot find any moment of success in the world.
(4) Early in the Shouwa Era, the situation of 'Home' was drasdcally changed. The 'Home' became a place from which man should, as a man, leave for his success in the Capital or the World, so if he wishes to return to home, he cannot accomplish his hope without exhibiting his success in his home-land.'Home' was then a place where man, as a stranger, dreams nostalgically in foreign lands.
