Research Abstract |
The object area of this study is Northern Kyushu, but I restricted it to Buzen province and Bungo province, which occupy most of Northern Kyushu. As for Bungo province, many of the Land Surveying notebooks that were created from 1592 to 1614 are still in existence, but they have not been organized yet. Therefore, I began with the survey of the Land Surveying notebooks' whereabouts, targeting on Buzen province as the primary object of study. It was found that many such books remain in Usa-gun and in adjacent areas, Bungo province Kunisaki and Hayami-gun. As for Bungo province, the 1586 Land Surveying notebooks of Takei village and Motoshige village in Usa-gun exist, but the ones for the period from 1592 to 1595 do not exist. Incidentally, the Tokugawa shogunate was established after the Battle of Sekigahara, and KURODA Yoshitaka moved to Chikuzen province from Buzen province. Instead, HOSOKAWA Tadaoki went into Nakatsu from Tango province, having been given two prefectures to survey : Kunisaki and Hayami. Then he carried out a Land Survey the next year in Hosokawa's territorial land. It turned out that there are only 7 Land Surveying notebooks in Usa-gun made by HOSOKAWA Tadaoki in his Land Survey of 1601, so I managed to gather them.
