Research Abstract |
We have developed a model to explain the production of modulation lanes in the dynamic spectra of Jupiter's decametric emission. By using our model and the analysis of the curvature of the modulation lanes we have obtained the cone half-angle of the emission for the Io-B source. Our results show that the value of the cone half-angle remains at a fixed value of 60 degrees for each of the storms analyzed and that the source System III longitude increased linearly with time. We also found that the measured cone half-angle of a few modulation lanes delineated by S bursts is about 50 degrees, 10 degrees smaller that the cone half-angle of modulation lanes of L bursts.
