Research Abstract |
The head investigator and the investigator have proposed a six-phase pole change induction motor (a six-phase PCIM) to improve the operation characteristic of a motor for driving the electric vehicle (EV), and have clarified the operational principle, the steady state characteristic and so on. Also, the analysis theory for six-phase PCIM has been proposed and is experimentally clarified that the steady state and the transient characteristics can be to calculated finely. As the result, the six-phase PCIM has excellent characteristics, such as, the expansion of constant power operation range without increase of the current and the volume of the motor, and the miniaturization of the six-phase PCIM system without mechanical contactors. Furthermore, it have been experimentally verified that the characteristics at the pole change former and later can be continuously analyzed using the proposed analysis theory. However, if the application of the six-phase PCIM in EVs is considered, then a pol

e change condition as suppressed the large transient variation becomes necessary. The purpose of this project was to build a basis for a practical six-phase PCIM design, which includes clarifying the transient characteristics, so on. In order to realize this purpose, this project was conducted as follows; 1.A prototype six-phase inverter (INV) was made. 2.A system for measuring the transient characteristic was established. 3.Using the six-phase INV, the experimental result were compared with simulated results. 4.An evaluation method for the pole change conditions was proposed. 5.The pole change condition was examined in detail. As a result, the investigators were able to propose a pole change condition that suppresses the transient phenomena and also crarified both theoretically. and experimentally that a smooth pole change operation can be pbtained. In addition, the basic data required for practical application of the six-phase PCIM in EVs was also obtained and, therefore, the purpose of this project was achieved. Less
