Research Abstract |
Information on transport policy for the elderly at local governments in Aichi, Gifu, Mie and Shizuoka prefecture has been obtained by means of questionnaires. The transport measures for the elderly of the local government and attitude of a government employee as the personal opinion towards the transport measures for the elderly were made clear by the results of questionnaires. The thoughts that any transport modes should be arranged by the local government when the elderly visits public facilities were higher in 1998. The government employees are taking an increasing interest in the elderly transport, the bus which goes round the public facilities and the welfare but. Moreover, the thoughts that the transport modes should be provided to the elderly when the elderly offers so are major. The age when the elderly thinks to stop driving a car becomes older between 1988 and 1998. the transport modes after stopping driving a car were investigated. The ratio of answers that the elderly is a fellow passenger of the car driven by the member of the family or a friend is the highest. There is the tendency that the expectation for the public transport increases in proportion to the growing older. The acceleration noise and the heartbeat of the elderly when driving a car were collected by the survey at Tokai-door in Minato-Ku, Nagoya City. There is a high correlation between the acceleration noise, the heartbeat and traffic conditions, road conditions. Moreover, the acceleration noise and the heartbeat and traffic conditions, road conditions. Moreover, the acceleration noise and the heartbeat seemed to relate closely to the traffic accidents. At the road which has toll parking more than four, no shop parking, frontage roads prohibited to enter more than two and speed limits more than twenty, the acceleration noise and the heartbeat were high. Therefore, such roads should not be built because many traffic accidents are anticipated.
