Research Abstract

This study aimed the establishment of the measurement system both for the mechanical-vibration loss and the dielectric loss of the piezoelectric transducer. In the system, automatic measurement is adopted by using the computer control.
Following results have been obtained through three years' investigations.
1.Losses are expressed and separated to two kind of losses ; that is, mechanical-vibration loss and dielectric loss. These have been obtained by introducing the elastic loss angle and the dielectric loss angle into the input electrical admittance.
2.Improved measurement system has been made and it's operations have been checked and confirmed. By using this system, piezoelectric and vibrational characteristics have been obtained easily up to high power level.
3.Two losses of the piezoelectric transducer have been obtained in increasing the vibration amplitude. From these results, it has been clarified that the dielectric loss becomes dominant with increasing vibration amplitude, therefore, under high vibration level, the dielectric loss becomes much larger than the mechanical vibration loss.
4.Those results can be utilized effectively for the development of the new advanced piezoelectric ceramic materials, and also utilized for the precise design of the piezoelectric transformers which are applied for the power electric sources.
Those contents mentioned above have been published and presented at the symposia and the technical meetings.
