Research Abstract |
We studied the damage and restoration of Hanshin Awaji great earthquake disaster in rural settlement of Awaji Island. We made clear following things. 1)The damage of farm buildings caused by the earthquake restored for less than one year. But the shape and scale of building has been different from former. 2)The damage of farmland caused by the earthquake needed approximately three years to rehabilitate. But there is some farmlands that didn't rehabilitate even if passed five years after the earthquake disaster. Farmers suffer from farmland damages that did not realized, because it was not appear externally. 3)The damage of irrigation ponds belonged to Tazu which is a management organization of irrigation ponds, were rehabilitated for one year by Rehabilitation Project. Furthermore, some of these ponds were repaired in next year, because those damages were not realized immediately. Still now private irrigation ponds did not recover, as these couldn't be adopted by Rehabilitation Project. 4)In Fukakusa-Tazu, Ichinomiya-cho, Custom of water use changed when drought disaster happened after the earthquake.. 5)Agricultural land use changed due to damage of farmland and irrigation ponds. If these had restored, land use will restore too. 6)We found that the society of depending on irrigation ponds took flexible measures on agricultural land use for earthquake disaster.
