Research Abstract

We developed a new model of Wilhelmy Balance, so as to determine physical properties of pulmonary surfactant. This model makes it possible to measure not only spreading and surface tension-area diagram but also adsorption rate of surfactants. Computer control enable to program compression rates of liquid surface, speed of compression, numbers of cycle, air and liquid temperature, data analysis, data preservation and printout. Also any gas can be injected into the apparatus for various research purposes.
