| Research Abstract |
600 dentists were selected who actually do Implant practice from the members of the Japan Society of Oral Implantology as subjects to whom questionnaired were mailed with a request to fill out the from and return it to us. 307 questionnaire from were returned, 51.2% response rate. A questionnaire survey was conducted to look into the actual situation of clinical application of Implants in Japan.
Accurate diagnosis and exact treatment planning are very important for successful implant treatment. Stereolithgraphy-model (SLM) reproduces anatomical morphology of an individual patient from the information obtained by CT scan, and is fabricated out of light cure resin. In this article, Stereolithgraphy-model and SIM/Plant for simulation of various examination and diagnosis incorporating CT information, and its features are introduced.
Simulation of implant placement using the surgical stent was done to determine whether the placement direction of the implant can influence clinical prognosis. A mandibular free-end partially edentulous model was employed. Two groups of the implant placement, experienced and inexperienced were selected, and arovided with the following indication. Drilling using and not using the surgical stent with a twist drill to a depth of 10 mm in the placement direction from two locations to confirm parallelism with the tooth axis of the mandibular second premolar. The system allowed establishment of the placement direction by picture instrumentation. It faced in the set direction using the surgical stent, the placement direction approximated to the tooth axis of the mandibular second premolar, there was no significant difference. Both groups inclined in the mesial and the lingual side toward the tooth axis of the mandibular second premolar when the surgical stent was not used. It was found difficult to establish a suitable direction when the placement of the implant was done without using the surgical stent.
