Research Abstract |
The purpose of this research were to clarify, 1) a illness trajectory of a diabetes patient by using life history research method, 2) the meaning of nursing experience to patients with diabetes among expert nurses by using phenomenology, 3) to obtain the suggestion for nursing model (coaching ) to a diabetes patient. An interview was utilized to 13 diabetes patients in hospitalization for 3 months in 1998. As a result, a diabetes patient expressed his experience as the patient that interpreted the body and time has lived in a dimension called the present. Six expert nurses of diabetes nursing were interviewed for 5 months in 1999. As a result, 4 elements were emerged. 1) Nurse helps that a patient is going to heal with himself. 2) Nurse supports that a patient can experienced a change of a body. 3) Nurse tailors a patient to be the person who lives diabetes independently. 4) Nurse gets on a flow in time with a patient. As the result, nursing model (coaching )including 4 elements was developed.
