Research Abstract

通気性の悪い防護服を着用すると、特に高温環境下では、多大の生理的・心理的ストレスが掛かる。一般に、持久性トレーニングや暑熱順化によって暑熱下での作業の耐久時間を延長することができる。しかしながら、両処方が防護服着用時に役立つかどうかは明らかでない。これを調べるために本年度は、以下の実験を行った。
本研究では、被検者(40歳以下の健康成人男性)を6日間あるいは12日間の暑熱順化(強度45-55%VO_<2max>、時間60分/日;気温40℃、湿度30%)を行う2群(各8名)に分けた。暑熱順化の前後に被検者は、普通服(30-45%VO_<2max>での連続運動)あるいは防護服(20-25%VO_<2max>での間欠運動〉を着用して、暑熱環境(気温40℃、湿度30%)下でトレッドミル上を歩いた。
暑熱順化の結果、両着衣条件下で、テスト中の生理的[直腸温(T_<re>)、平均皮膚温(T_<sk>)および心拍数(HR)]および心理的変数[主観的運動強度(RPE)および温熱的不快感度(RTD)]は減少した。なお、普通服着用時には暑熱順化の効果は6日間よりも12日間の方が約2倍大きかったが、防護服着用時には順化期間による差は認められなかった。6日間と12日間の両暑熱順化によって防護服着用時の耐久時間は約15分間(6日間では97分から112分まで、12日間では108分から120分まで)延長した。したがって、6日間から12日間に暑熱順化の期間を延長しても、防護服着用時の生理的・心理的ストレスをさらに軽減することはできないようだ。
