Research Abstract |
1.The questionnaire survay concerning the sign language interpretation services was executed. Results from questionnaire show that the sign language interpreter is necessary in the hospital and the public office. 2.The experiment system for the remote sign language interpretation was constructed. 3.The comparison experiment to examine the effect of the sub-image was done. In the person-to-person conversation scene, we experimented the comparison of the following three scenes. [A] The interpreter person sits with the speaker. [B] Hearing impared person's image is presented to the interpreter preson in the remote place. [C] Hearing impared person's image (main image) and the panorama of the conversation (sub-image) is presented to the interpreter person in the remote place. In the lecture scene, we experimented the comparison of the following four scenes. [A] The interpreter person is with the lecturer. [B1] Hearing impared student's image is presented to the interpreter preson in the remote place. [B2] Lecturer's image is presented to the interpreter preson in the remote place. [C] Hearing impared student's image and Lecturer's image is presented to the interpreter person in the remote place. Results from the questionnaire show that the sub-image is effective for the remote sign language interpreting.
