Research Abstract

本研究は、高度な自動車排ガス用センサあるいは環境モニタリング用ガスセンサの構築を最終目標とし、酸化物系薄膜材料の作製法、微細構造、表面物性の最適化とセンサ材料の結晶構造、電気化学特性の評価・検討を行うものである。今年度は、昨年度に見出したイットリア安定化ジルコニア(YSZ)とAuメッシュ/Pt検知極を組み合わせた環境モニタリング用水素センサについて、ガス応答特性の改善を行った。また、YSZセンサにおけるNOx検知メカニズムの解明を目指し、VASPを用いたコンピューターシミュレーションを行った。
まず、Auメッシュ/Pt検知極を用いた新規な水素センサについて、特性改善を行った。本素子の水素選択性および応答回復速度は十分ではなかったため、Auメッシュ/Pt上へYSZ層を形成した後、550℃で2ヶ月間安定化したところ、水素に対する高選択性と高速応答性が得られた。本素子は、大気環境条件下(21vol.% 02および1.35vol.%H2O)においても40~400ppmの低濃度水素を再現性良く検知可能であった。
次に、YSZセンサにおけるNOx検知メカニズムを明確にするため、YSZ(111)および
YSZ+0(111)表面におけるNOx(NO,NO2)の吸着状態について、密度関数理論(DFT)を用いたシミュレーション解析を行った。その結果、作動温度500℃ではYSZ+0(111)表面の吸着NOおよび吸着NO2は、YSZ表面の酸素原子(0)と反応することでそれぞれNO2およびNO3(あるいはNO+O2)として脱離することが分かった。一方、YSZ(111)表面では、吸着NOと吸着NO2の物理的な吸着脱離反応が進行することが分かった。
