Research Abstract

リチウムイオン電池の開発は携帯電話やノートパソコンなど携帯用電子機器や電気自動車、ハイブリッド自動車など次世代の産業技術を支える2次電池として極めて重要であり、長寿命、高出力などの高性能化が求められている。本研究ではリチウムイオン電池の性能、特にエネルギー密度、サイクル寿命、充電一放電速度などを大幅に向上させるために、ミクロからナノサイズの特異な構造を有する高性能な陽極・負極の電極材料を開発し、その電気化学特性を解明することを目標としている。
Co_3O_4はリチウムイオン電池の負極材料として優れた特性を有すると考えられるが、天然には層状物質としては存在しない物質である。本研究では溶液法を用いて、・自己組織化したCo_3O_4のナノシートを創製することに成功した。生成物はCo_3O_4ナノシートが垂直方向に積層し、層間をカーボン層でサンドイッチした構造をしている。このようなラメラ状の特異な構造を有する新規電極材料は50回以上の充電・放電プロセスにおいて、高い電流密度条件下でも高い電気容量を保持できるなどの優れた電池特性を有することが明らかとなった。この優れた特性は、電極と電極物質間の接触面積が拡大し、その結果、Liイオンの拡散長が減少したことによると考えられる。また、窒素をドープしたグラフェンとSnO_2粒子とのサンドイッチ構造を有する新規電極材料を、TCNQと呼ばれる有機溶媒を用いて創製することに成功した。本電極材料は大きな容量、高いサイクル寿命、早い対応速度などの優れた電池特性を有することを明らかにした。さらに、CoO_3-Fe_3O_4の2層から成る中空が空いた磁性のナノ物質を合成することにも成功した。

Reason

当初の計画以上に進展したと思われる。新規な電極材料として開発したCo_30_4ナノシートに関する論文はChemical Communicationのアクセス数の高い論文の一つに取り上げられるなどの大きな反響を得た。また、2012年度はAdvanced Materialsなどの材料系のトップジャーナルに発表し、さらにジャーナル誌の表紙カバーに選ばれるなどの高い評価を得ることができた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本研究で創製した新規な電極材料の大量合成法の開発やその電池特性評価の研究を今後も継続して行いたい。
