| Research Abstract |
申請者はMg同位体比の質量分析手法の開発とその応用研究に取り組んだ.以下,(1)生物骨格,(2)堆積物,(3)高精度分析手法の開発の三つのテーマにおいて結果が得られたので報告する.
申請者は炭酸カルシウムと水試料からのMg単離手法を開発し,高知コア研究所のMC-ICP-MSを用いた同位体比測定によって生物殻のMg同位体比の測定を行った.この結果,深海サンゴの骨格において水温とMg同位体比の間に明瞭な相関が認められた.生物殻は生物の成長に伴って付加成長するため生息時の時系列の環境情報を記録しており,この新しい知見は深海サンゴの骨格を用いて,地球の気候条件などを知るためにもっとも重要なパラメータである過去の水温の記録を復元できる可能性を示すものである.当該研究分野の既存研究の総説を行った成果が吉村・谷水(2012)として地球化学誌に掲載された.
また,海洋におけるマグネシウムの物質循環を知る上で大型放射光施設SPring8にて地質試料のX線吸収微細構造の分析を行った.得られた成果は,Journal of Synchrotron Radiationに投稿中で,現在Minor Revisionである.また,間隙水の同位体比測定を行い,成果についてはGoldschmidt Confbrence 2012にて発表を行った.
