Research Abstract

本研究は、LHC・ATLAS実験で期待される物理及び予期せぬ物理の発見に不可欠な反応から発生する全ての粒子の飛跡検出・視覚化及び磁場をかけての運動量の測定を行うための、内部飛跡検出器のソレノイド磁場を作る超電導電磁石及び高精度の飛跡検出及び運動量測定を行うシリコン半導体飛跡検出器の開発と建設を行う。超電導電磁石は、飛跡検出器の外に置かれる電磁カロリーメータの測定を悪化させないよう軽量・薄型構造を目指し、コイル部を薄くするだけで無く断熱のためのクライオスタットを液体アルゴン電磁カロリーメータと共用する設計で開発・建設する。シリコン半導体飛跡検出器では、反応点から発生する多数の粒子による放射線損傷に耐え得るシリコンストリップ測定器の開発とともに、必要となる大面積(全体で約31平方メートル、シリコン量で約62平方メートル)をカバーするための高精度シリコンストリップ測定器モジュールの開発及び日本分担の980モジュールの検査、第2層円筒シリンダー(直径80cm、長さ1.6m)へのモジュール設置方の開発・検査を行う。平成16年度において、液体アルゴン検出器の真空槽に組込まれた超伝導ソレノイドシステムの液体アルゴン検出器との組み合わせた稼動試験を行い、また、シリコン飛跡検出器関係では、量産されたシリコン半導体検出器モジュールの受け入れ検査、温度サイクル試験、低温定時間稼動検査を完了、検査完了のシリコン半導体検出器モジュールの、シリコン半導体飛跡検出器シリンダー組立地への輸送、シリコン半導体飛跡検出器シリンダー上へのモジュールの設置及び設置後の稼動検査、モジュールを搭載したシリコン半導体飛跡検出器シリンダーのCERN実験場地上クリーンルームへの運搬、を完了した。
