Research Abstract

データ収集システムにおける品質保証技術適用の効果について、これまで行ってきたイベントビルダ部での効果の有効性を元に、その前段にあたるレベル2トリガシステムへの適用を行った。また、システム全体への効果を調べるために、これまで行ってきた部分試験ではなく、統合試験を行った。レベル2トリガシステムへの品質保証技術の適用については、そのシステムの性質上、特に性能向上への寄与があるものではないことが確認された。ただし、品質保証技術の一つの利用として、予想外のデータによりシステムに異常をきたすことを避けることができることが理解された。また、システム全体の性能向上への指針としては、レベル2トリガシステムへは適用せず、イベントビルダシステムへの適用であると結論づけられた。またCERNにおいて25nsビームを使ったTGCエレクトロニクスの総合試験とCombined beam testと称するすべての検出器がつながったデータ収集の総合試験を行った。この試験ではTGCエレクトロニクスを構成する最終バージョンのASICやFPGAがテストした。トリガーの効率、トリガーデータと読出しデータとの一貫性チェックなどを行い、今回のビームテストで、ハードウエアのアップグレードが成功したことを確認した。Combined Runでは、最新のROD Crate DAQのソフトウエアフレームワークをTGCの読み出し系に適用しアトラス標準のVMEボードコンピュータ(SBC)を使用するなど、総合試験の要求に沿ってアップグレードし、スケジュール通りすべての検出器が接続されデータ収集システムの総合的機能試験を成功させた。
一方、測定器シミュレーション関連課題においては、Geant4で採用されている物質と粒子の電磁相互作用のシステマティックなミクロ検証を行った。各種NISTデータとしてまとめられている電磁相互作用の微分断面積、減衰係数データ等のGeant4での再現性を検証し、それが正しく再現されていることを証明した。その成果は、IEEEの論文として投稿済みである。
