Research Abstract

非接触原子間力顕微鏡(nc-AFM)の機構を理論的に解明し、第一原理計算に基づく像の定量的解析法を開発した。すでに完成させた第一原理法による理論シミュレーションプログラムを適用して、Si(111)√<3>×√<3>-Ag表面のnc-AFM像を理論的に再現し、その温度依存性を説明することに成功した。この表面は室温では二つの構造が熱的に揺らいでいるが、その動的揺らぎの探針による影響を考慮すると、実験像の温度依存性を良好に再現することが示された。また温度が低い場合に、探針の高さによって表面の二つの構造間の変化が誘導されることが示された。清浄および水素終端Si(100)表面について、像の理論シミュレーションを実行した。水素終端したSi探針では探針が水素終端Si(100)表面に接近する時、明暗が反転する。これは、探針と表面の水素原子の間の力が引力から斥力に転じる傾向のためである。清浄Si(100)表面の場合、活性なSi探針の接近によって表面ダイマーが突然反転する現象を見出し、このような探針によって誘起される表面原子の不可逆構造変化とエネルギー散逸の関係を、理論的に明らかにした。さらにSi(111)探針の頂点にAg原子が吸着する場合、側面がより安定な構造であることを見出した。カンチレバー振動の動力学における電気回路制御系を含めてモデル化する理論を開発し、これを用いた数値シミュレーションを実行した。探針振動の散逸像と幾何学的凹凸像とのずれの起原や、その走査速度依存性などについての理解が得られた。探針と表面の間に両端を固着されたタンパク質分子の分子動力学シミュレーションプログラムを開発し、これを用いてポリアニリン分子の力-延伸曲線を数値シミュレーションした。実験で得られる特徴的な構造を、ある程度再現した。
