Research Abstract

本特定領域研究「高等植物の自家不和合性における自他識別機構の分子的解析」は、平成11年度から15年度の5年間に渡り、5つの計画研究グループにより進められてきた。すなわち、アブラナ科植物、ナス科・バラ科植物、ヒルガオ科植物の3つの植物群を対象に、自家不和合性の自他識別反応を制御するS遺伝子産物とその機能の解明、さらに自家不和合性機構の多様性と普遍性の解明など数多くの研究成果を残してきた。
本年度(成果とりまとめ)は、この5年間の研究成果を研究者や社会に広く発信し、自家不和合性を利用した植物育種への応用や、植物基礎科学の振興と推進に役立てることを目指して以下の2つの事業を行った。
1.研究成果報告書の作成
本特定領域研究では、年度毎に研究成果報告書を作成し、相互の研究の進展に役立ててきた。本年度は、これを基礎に、5年間分の研究の概要、発表論文一覧、自己評価などを整理し、成果としての発表論文の別刷りと合わせて冊子体にとりまとめた。この冊子体は、得られた研究成果を紹介し、今後の植物科学の振興と推進に役立てるために、植物科学研究者や公開シンポジウムに参加した方々などに広く配布した。
2.成果発表公開シンポジウムの開催
本特定領域研究では、毎年研究計画発表会並びに成果発表会を行い、また平成15年度には国際シンポジウムを開催し、相互交流や研究の推進に役立ててきた。本年度は、11月22、23日の2日間に渡り東京大学において「植物の生殖研究-その最前線と今後の方向-」というタイトルの公開シンポジウムを開催し、本研究成果をより広範な植物研究者や植物科学に興味を持つ一般の方々に発信した。また、このシンポジウムでは、自家不和合性研究のみならず、生殖器官分化、配偶体形成、花芽形成、受精反応など植物生殖に関わる研究者を広く集め、植物分子育種に向けた今後の研究方針・戦略の策定も図った。
