Research Abstract

本研究では,超小型高機能三次元光集積回路の基本技術の開発を目的として,(a)光機能デバイス自身の小型集積化を目指した三次元集積化光機能デバイスの設計・製作技術と,(b)光機能デバイス間を自在に配線する立体光配線技術,の2つの重点的開発を目指した.
3年間に亘る本研究によって,(a)については,報告者らが開発した積層型マイクロリング共振器フィルタの偏光無依存化,透過帯域平坦化,入出力損失の低減と共振波長の精密な設定技術の開発を行った.この波長フィルタは,リング半径を数十μmまで超小型化したマイクロリング共振器を,網目状に構成したバスライン導波路の交点上に積層配置することによって高密度集積化を可能にした狭帯域Add/Drop波長フィルタである.しかしながら,フィルタ特性がローレンツ形関数であるので透過帯域が平坦ではなく,またリング半径の制限から共振波長間隔(FSR)は20nmが限界であった.そこで,3重直列結合共振器を提案し,試作した結果,FSRを26nmに拡大し,また透過帯域の平坦性を従来よりも約3倍に拡大した.また,バスライン導波路にスポットサイズ変換器を導入して入出力損失を8dBまで低減した.さらに,多波長フィルタアレイの中心波長間隔を狭間隔化するため,ポリマークラッドへの紫外線照射によるトリミング技術を用いて,従来はフォトマスクの製作制度の限界から5nm以下に出来なかった中心波長間隔を0.5nmまで狭間隔化することに成功した.
また(b)については,すでに,製作許容誤差が大きく結合長が短い積層光結合器を開発し,結合器長約800μmで結合効率99%を一昨年度に実証した.
