Research Abstract |
Miyagi University has been tried remote design studio with Massachusetts Institute of Technology to find out the know-how for implementing virtual design studio. 1. What kind of facility does virtual design studio (vds) need? This project proposed a prototype of the virtual design studio on the Internet, and analyzed the relationship between the space on the net and the one in real world. It is very important to recombine real and virtual. 2. What kind of information technology, tools and software do VDS need? This project tested several tools and soft-wares and find Out the followings ; the web-camera, "Diary" which inform daily activities of students and ICQ, instant messaging system, are very effective to enhance communication. 3. Which communication tools do effective? This project analyzed the questionnaire to find out this and got the followings ; video conference and application sharing and email are very effective 4. What is the barrier to implement the VDS This project found out that language barrier and the technology barrier at the collaborating stage are very high and sharing informal information and tacit knowledge are very important, but VDS lucked this kind of information. This is an important next theme.
