Research Abstract |
The purpose of the present study was to evaluate change relation between hard tissue and soft tissue with orthodontic treatment and growth and to develop the algorithm of predicting system on the face after orthodontic treatment. 1. Changes of the hard tissue and the soft tissue with orthodontic treatment The error by the superimpose on posterior-anterior cephalogram could objectively be analyzed by correcting with lateral cephalogram. As the results, the dentofacial structures could be accurately superimposed before and after treatment. 2. The analysis of the growth aspect on dentofacial structures The growth aspects of skeletal Class III and Class I were analyzed as a structural problem. As the results, thin mandibular ramus at the Dental Age IIIA on the skeletal Class III cases became remarkable at the Dental Age IIIC.Similarly, the condyle in the skeletal Class III cases were remarkably lengthened at the Dental age IIIA to IIIC than in the Class I.And gonial angle were remarkably opened on the skeletal Class III than Class I. 3. Three-dimensional surface changes on the face after orthognathic treatment By fixing the head of the subjects in the ear rod, the shape of the surface could be measured at the good accuracy. By this method, the change of the surface on the face was examined after advance of maxilla. As the results in the middle area upper part between ectocanthion and alare, there was no change. Noses were moved upward and forward after the operation. As the results, the tendency as a form with the flat and wide nose was recognized. 4. The development of algorithm of predicting system on the face after orthodontic treatment The correspondence of many items for the orthodontic treatment was examined. The algorithm of the prediction of the face after the orthodontic treatment was developed. The accuracy is improved, by repeating examination, prediction, treatment and evaluation.
