Research Abstract |
Drosophila GAGA factor directs chromatin remodeling to its binding sites. To elucidate the mechanism underlying the site-specific chromatin remodeling, we searched for GAGA factor-associated proteins. We identified two GAGA factor-associated proteins p93 and p130, and analyzed them. The results obtained showed that p93 and p130 form a heterodimer, bind to nucleosome, and facilitate chromatin remodeling. We also found that GAGA factor, p93 and p130 colocalyze to active chromatin on polytene chromosomes. Moreover, genetic interaction between Trithorax-like and p130 implicates GAGA factor-p93-p130 complex in epigenetic gene expression.
