Research Abstract |
The Purpose of This Study is to Consider to Participation of Kamakura Shogunate to Making Buddhist Sculptures and to Investigate their Political or Social Background. For the Purpose, It is needed to Research the Work One by One, Then the First Aim is Accumulating these Individual Research. Its result is included the accompanying book, 17 individual researches are conducted, and theses are published. The date and the background are refined about the following works piled up to study so far, the seated sculpture of Shaka Nyorai (Sakyamuni) from Jorakuji temple in Kanagawa, the seated sculpture of Amida Nyorai from Ganjojyuin temple in Shizuoka, the seated sculpture of Banzaiten from Enoshima shrine in Kanagawa, the seated sculpture of Yakushi Nyorai from Hojobou in Kanagawa, the seated sculpture of Senju Kannon from Kenchouji temple in Kanagawa. In addition, the classification of propose and opportunity of building statues, the atelier in charge of making statues, change of style have considerated through those individual researches. As result, it was confirmed that the opportunity of building statues was involving upheavals and changes in the history of politics like political VIP's downfall, and change of owners of manors after the following Wars - the battle between GENJI and HEISHI, WADA WAR JYOKYU WAR, HOUJI WAR, Attack by Yuan (Mongol), development of a network of roads and commerce and according to the atelier, it is found out the relation of Kei school and Kamakura Shogunate closer and detected the atelier patronized by Kamakura Shogunate, called [Kamakura-ha school] tentatively in this study, established by middle 13th century at the latest.
