Research Abstract |
This report consists of three parts. The First part named "Issue and Significance of the subject, and Obtain of the Research" contains critical verification of preceded research, theoretical research and methodology of this subject. The second part "Expansion of Islam in North Africa during the Early Islamic Period" is a monograph discussed the historical process of Islamization and factional activities in Ifrikia and Maghrib from Arab Conquest to the Middle of the Abbasid period. It obtained the result that, Shia and Khawarij movements played a major role in the Islamization in North Africa. The third is "Relationship between Copts and Muslims and its Change in the Early Islamic Period". It discusses the process of decline of Copt societies under the Muslim rule, and reports that financial policies which the Abbasid rulers adopted, aiming the establishment of rule on Egypt, for example, tax increase and reinforcement of collection of taxes, caused stubborn resistance and uprisings of the Copts. And failure of these Copt's movement was a primary factor for the decline of the power of their societies and churches. An outline of history of Eastern Churches under Muslin Rule adds to these monographs at the end of this report.
