The historical study on the change in inner structures of compound verbs
The present study has put into historical perspective the change of inner structures of compound verbs with main reference to spoken language after the Mindai Era and also with special reference to classics in the Senso Era.
This study has shown the following points on the change of inner structures of such compounds as 'tanshin, ' ' shosin, ' 'yumemi' and 'kanken.'
1) Examples in classics of VO compounds which take even another object, such as 'tokuzai'
2) Examples idential with the above but found in the later era, such as 'tansin'
3) Examples idential with the 1st except that the object is not a recipient but is a causer, such as 'shosin'
4) Examples of compounds which originally had a 'modifier and head' construction or a 'doubile synonym' construction, which later turned to a 'resultative complement' construction, such as 'yumemi' or 'kanken.'
