Research Abstract |
This research worked on the following projects. 1) To study how the modern educational system, schools, pupils, teachers and so on have been represented in Chinese literature between the Late Qing period and the era of the Republic of China. 2) Through the referrence to the accomplishment of educational history study, social history study and so on, to compare the schools in reality, the view of schools among the society with the representation in literature. The researcher has collected mainly through internet e-texts of modern Chinese literature that amount up around three thousand pieces, and studied the usage of such words as school, pupil, teacher and so on. Based on the results above, the researcher has published articles on the discussion of Putonghua in 1930s, the Japan experience of Chinese writers, and the emigrant writers in 1990s. Through the research, the researcher keenly felt the necessity to include the experience and works of overseas writers in considering the problem of education in China.
