Research Abstract |
This project has aimed at analyzing the impact of internationalization symbolized by the establishment of the European Union and regionalization within and beyond national borders in the European society on public law and constitutional theories. The researchers include Japanese and French academics specialized in public law and constitution. The main project areas are: 1) the State and sovereignly facing internationalization and regionalization; 2) intemalization of human rights; 3) local governments facing globalization; 4) globalization and the welfare state; 5) issues concerning minorities. Based on our achievements, papers were presented by our members at La Metamorphose de la Constitution, December 14-18, 1999, at the University of Strasbourg, and La societe et les Droits de l'homme au 21eme siecle, March 7-12, 2002, at the University of Kogakuin University of Tokai and University of Kanto Gakuin. Our papers have also been published in Volume 7, the Annual Report of Kogakuin University Institute (Problems of Globalization and Regionalization) and Volume 8 (Report of the Session on Minority Issues), Volume 11, Jurisconsultus Kanto Gakuin University (Universality of Human Rights Theories and Their Contemporary Dimensions), and Volume 33, Tokai Law Review (Issues of Life and Sex). Papers presented in 1999 are scheduled to be published in France. Other related articles are to be published in periodicals of the institutions to which our researchers belong.
