Research Abstract |
During these two years, we made a big progress on observational study of bulk motion of the Local Universe. Observing project for redshift survey in all the southern sky are ready to start from June in 2001 : with a new multi-object fiber spectrograph of UK Schmidt telescope at Siding Spring Obseervatory in Australia. Summary of our research is given bellow : 1) Stratagy of redshift survey has been fixed for a sample of more than 100,000 galaxies brighter than K 13.7 mag. to study on observational cosmology regarding on bulk motion of the Local Universe. 2) A list of galaxies in the Ohiuchus region was prepared based on 2 micron MASS survey by Prof.J.Huchra. 3) By comparing our own list based on SERC-J Survey with Huchra's, their optical positions are precise enough to put fibers on the target galaxies. 4) Commissioning of the multi-object fiber spectrograph was successfully made in late Febuary, and are in final adjustment for steady use. 5) Our observing proposal for Ophiuchus region has been scheduled on July 13-18.
