Research Abstract

The acceleration and collimation of high-velocity jets associated with YSOs (Young Stellar Objects) are considered to be deeply related to their circumstellar disks. In this research, through observations of near-infrared and optical observation as well as X-ray and radio, we aimed to search for target candidates for detailed studies of the jets, micro-jets and circumstellar disks with Subaru Telescope and/or other large telescopes.
We have analyzed the low-dispersion grism spectroscopy data which we obtained with the 2.2m telescope of University of Hawaii and 2.6m telescope of Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory in 1999. As a result, we identified about 10 H alpha stars in star forming regions very near to the sun and many H alpha stars toward the HII regions with bright-rimmed clouds, which are good candidates of YSOs having micro-jects and/or cicumstellar disks. We made followup observations for some of the above candidates by using HARIS (High Angular Resolution Imaging Spectrograph) of University of Hawaii. The lithium absorption line, which is a good indicator of YSO, was detected in most of them. We also obtained near-infrared data for these objects by using SIRIUS (simultaneously Infrared Imager for Unbiased Survey). In the southern sky, we started to search for H alpha stars in nearby star forming regions in the southern sky.
