Research Abstract |
Results on the consciousness of the crossing pedestrian are as follows. From field hearing and questionnaire survey, it was clarified that crossing pedestrians feel risks for right or left turning vehicles. Risk consciousness tends to high when the crossing direction is parallel to coming right turning vehicle, when the crossing begun at the beginning of green time, and when the pedestrian has had dangerous experiments in the intersection. On crossing walking speed, followings are revealed from the field observations. Relatively lower speed is observed when aged pedestrian crosses or large vehicle or high speed vehicle approaching. Relatively high speed is observed when left green time is not enough or pedestrian has risk consciousness, Questionnaire surveys were conducted and showed the behavior of walking activities and consciousness for the measures. It was revealed that simple questionnaire survey is able to show the evaluation for different views. It was also clarified that indications of residual red time have effect for convenience, as well as benches prepared to use in waiting signal are effective for pedestrians with severe difficulties on walking.
