Research Abstract |
The objective of this study is the development of effective wooden beam having the adequate strength, rigidity and creep performance. Recently, the high quality beam mentioned above is required to support a long span load in the varrier-free space in wooden house according to human aging. The composite beams jointed by new connecting system are tested to research the structural behavior including strength and rigidity under the long term loading. The main parameters in this study are the kinds of composite beam (box beam or truss beam) and existence of joint in chord member for structural frame members. From the test results, the box beams have better creep property than that of the truss beams. Small and short SUGI lumber can be used effectively by using the new connecting system at the joint in chord member provided in box beam. When the new connecting system is adopted at joint of the chord member in the box beam, the creep property of the box beam with joint in the chord member is equal to that of the box beam without joint in the chord member. This long term loading test will be continued for some years.
