Research Abstract

Maintenance of historic buildings through continued use is an effective preservation method. In such cases, according to the buildings' use, structural stability to meet changes in present day lifestyles, changes for improved use, introduction of new facilities, or additions for subsidiary functions will be necessary for buildings to function.
Regardless of what restoration methods will be taken on the building, its historic value must not be decreased or lost. The fundamental concepts for preservation should be followed and at the same time the project should allow flexibility in satisfying new needs.
This study focuses in detail on seeking suitable restoration methods for continued use of historic structures.
