Research Abstract |
Ever since their synthesis in earlv this century, phthalocyanines continue to be the subject of numerous studies. However, the studies and applications of their dyeing of fibers are limited because of their poor solubility in aqueous and organic solvents. In this study, we report the dyeing of cotton with phthalocyanines (MPc) using monomeric MPc from organic solution containing trifluoroacetic acid and protonated MPc, which gives blue and green colors. We conformed that the present technique can be applied to the dyeing of many phthalocyanines, e.g., phthalocyanines (MPc, M=Cu, H_2, , Ni, Mg, Zn, VO). As organic solvent, we coukd use diclorometahne, xylenne, and toluene. Absorption spectrum and X-ray diffraction pattern of the dyeing stuff showed that this film is a-type. Scanning electron micrographs (SEM) of the film shows that the cotton surface is densely covered with MPc. The amont of the crystallites increased with electrolysis time for 1 h.
