| Research Abstract |
1. Detection of intraabdominal free cancer cells by immunohistochemical staining. Immunohistochemical staining of intraoperative peritoneal washing by using MOC- 31 antibody were examed in 71 patients with gastric cancer. In 66 of all cases, restults of immunohistochemical staining were coincident with those of Papnicolaou staining. By looking over the microscopic examination and comparing with the othe immunohistochemical staining (CEA and BerEP4 antibody), accuracy rate of the immunohistochemical staining (MOC-31 antibody) revealed to 98.6%, as compared to 94.4% of Papanicolaou staining, 95.8% of the other immunohistochemical staing (CEA, BerEP4 antibody). Immunohistochemical staining by using MOC-31 antibody is more reliable method to detect intraabdominal free cancer cells than the usual Papnicolaou staining.
2. Detection of intraabdominal free cancer cells by RT-PCR method.
CEAmRNA of intraabdominal peritoneal washes was measured by means of the RT-PCR method in 44 patients with gastric cancer. In 6 cases which were cytology negative, CEAtmRNA proved to be detected. RT-PCR is revealed to be more reliable methd to detect the free cancer cells than usual Papnicolaou staining.
3. Detection of intraabdominal free cancer cells by means of Telomerase activity. Telomerase activity of intraabdominal peritoneal washe was measured in 58 patients with gastric cancer. In 24 of all cases, results of Teromerase activity were not coincident with those of Papnicolaou staining. Telomerase activity is revealed to be not so reliable method to detect the free cancer cells than usual Papnicolaou staining.
