Research Abstract

The treatment of the brain and dural arteriovenous malformation, by operation, endovascular embolization or stereotactic irradiation is effective. However, treatment is difficult in the large lesions. In this basic research, we try to irradiate ultraviolet ray to the endothelium of the arteriovenous malformation. We using carotid artery of rats, after the cramp of carotid artery and we incised artery and exposure of endothelium. We irradiate Vilber Loumat 15W ultraviolet lamp (using the 3 types wavelength ; 365 nm, 312 nm, 254 mn) from 10 cm distance. Ultraviolet irradiation was carried out in the several time interval which was various from the distance. Though all carotid arteries incised part were sutured by the postirradiation using 10-0 nylon yarn, and the blood flow was resumed. Blood flow condition of the irradiation part minute was good. There is no significant change on the histological analysis of all carotid artery of the irradiation part. The occlusive reaction could not be detected by this method, therefor, it is necessary to establish the new method such as combined with photo sensitizer.
In this study, we reported clinical cases of dural AVF with intracranial cerebellar hemorrhage.
