Research Abstract

This research is abnormal articulation associated with hyper-nasality and it that are abnormal voice of the cleft palate patients the research that We are doing from the fiscal year 1999 for the purpose of that analyzes like acoustics by using CSL computer system and also Nasometer and make the guideline of the improvement of the evaluation and articulation disorders of the acoustics of hyper-nasality.
We have done the picking, measuring of the voice sample targeting the cleft palate patients who is doing the gearing connetion (the synchronous measurement) between Nasometer of the purchase and lecture established of CSL computer system in the first fiscal year and have clearer hyper-nasality than the fiscal year 2000.
Doing the comparison of the frequency characteristic of nasal voice and oral voice that were gathered and were separate the voice sample by using the microphone system of picking, Nasometer, by using the normal adult that is mastering the patients and also normal voice of a … More round the cleft palate operation for methodology, we did examination to announce the characteristic of hyper-nasality like acoustics.
As a result, the utterance strength of nasal voice is showing a clearly big value with the trend that the second and the third formant frequency fall off was seen. Especially the trend was observed strongly with.
The third formant frequency in other words it was suggested that the decline of the third formant frequency is getting involved in the change of the acoustics of hyper-nasality strongly. Also, the trend is seen strongly clearly in the strong case. (Acoustic Nasality ++, nasalance score 60% or more) like hyper-nasality to, acoustic and the reinforcement of nasal voice conceivabal that there are the decline and relation of the third formant frequency in comparison with a normal adult even nasalance score.
The decline of the second and the third formant frequency are clearly even in the case that glottal stop is observed and agree with the report with regard to the relation of hyper-nasality and glottal stop in the past. Furthermore, the main point of this research announced in the 45th Japanese Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery General Meeting in Chiba City. Less
