Research Abstract |
In this research project, we have tried to clarify how scientists and natural philosophers after Galileo, especially Jesuit philosophers judged on the astronomical discoveries made by Galileo Galilei, and abandoned their faith in Aristotelian-Ptolemaic Cosmology. The summary of our research results are as follows : 1. Jesuit philosophers after Galileo never believed Aristotelian-Ptolemaic Cosmology, and in a short time accepted Galilean discoveries. 2. But they deflected their subjects of research from cosmology to other physical phenomena in greater or less degree.
