Research Abstract

We have investigated optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) ages of the middle and upper terrace deposits in the Kinki region, Japan, that are related to estimaion for the speed of crustal movement and for the activity of Quaternary fault movements. Though we have clarified several provisional results, until now we have not got accurate nor precise OSL ages yet. Generally speaking, most of the provisional ages obtained here seem to be underestimated. IRSL, BLSL and TL growth curves of samples, however, give us some suggestions that it is due to dose response changes and to fading of OSL signals after artificial irradiations. Overcoming these problems, we need to introduce the machine which can measure OSL signals soon after artificially irradiation, and to investigate proheat temperature conditions, excessive spurious luminescence and anomalous fading of the samples.
