Research Abstract |
In this research we aimed to propose concrete plans for effective educational activities, investigating successful factors to develop collaborative works using the network tools such as the Internet and videoconferencing. First of all, for this purpose we took questionnaires to teachers who performed practical activities and several educational projects with successful results using the network with foreign countries. It is find out that teachers who have practiced educational plans actively using network have several problems. One of them is that it is not easy for them to make fully worked-out plans for useful activities and to get support related to technologies. As a result, we found it is an effective way for schools and teachers to take part in educational projects and get various kinds of support from other people who participated in or manage the projects. Furthermore we always found coordinators who supported these educational activities and gave many kinds of advice and IT (Information Technology) assistance to teachers and students through the projects. Another problem for teachers is how they are able to give students continual motivation for learning. We proposed to make a learning plan that does not depend on partner students' study. In other words, teachers set several common goals with foreign partner schools and should concrete their own plans to attain their common goals. We proposed a new exchanging plan based on our research. We gave both of our students and partner's students a common task that should be solved under given conditions. While exchanging information on this task, they can promote their studies using the web or other materials. By setting several regular links using video-conferencing, they are required to report their studies to each other. Moreover, the necessity for researches on how to support students using a foreign language was clarified again. We have developed the system for translating.
