Research Abstract |
During past two years(1999〜2000), 'The religious Anthropological Study on Folk Religion of the Areas in Asian Chinese Culture' was carried out in various places in Asia. The research of this study are summarily as follows : I. We could show hypothetical views on the frame-work and method which would be useful for understanding comprehensively the folk religion of Chinese ethnic groups. II. We investigated folk religious specialists, Zhuang zu belief, bone-washing rituals, grave making system etc. in Fuchien district as important factors of folk religion in China. III. The similarity and difference between Tang-ki in mainland China and those in Southeast Asia have been compared and discussed. IV. Various characters of shamanic specialists in Zhonyuan and Gianyin districts were made clear in detail. V. The way of diagnosis of illness and etiology seen among folk religious specialists in Kuanhsi Chuan people were made clear. VI. We investigated shamanism in Mongolia and northeast Asia from the viewpoints of ideologies and rituals. VII. Actual condition of shamanic specialists in Seoul and Cholla-nam-do district in Korea has been studied, and new problems has been shown. VIII. The relationship between folk religion and politico-social situations has been inverstigated and compared with that in other districts. As mentioned above, our invertigations in 1999 and 2000 were firmly carried out on the basis of 'the Study of shamanism in east Asia', which was our purpose of field-work in 1996〜1998.Through these investigations, we think that we were able to show the viewpoints and frame-work available for understanding important aspects of folk religion in Asia, especially that of Chinese societies.
