Research Abstract |
In this project, the field investigations were carried out among the Sakha (Yakut) in Sakha Republic, the Chukchi in Chukotskii Autonomous Region in Magadan oblast, Russia, the Koryak in Koryak Autonomous Region in Kamchatka oblast, Russia, the Mongol in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China and in Mongolia. For each ethnic group, the data on the historical background, on the cultural changes, on the cultural revitalization, on the linguistic revitalization, on the ethnic identity, have been collected to analyze the processes of formation of ethnic identity. As a result, the following points have become clear: 1. The various types of man-nature relationships have been existed among the North- East Asian peoples, 2. The cultures and languages of North- East Asian peoples have been changed in the process of their history, 3. Each culture has not only been changed by various factors or by national policies, but they have reacted against new situations and to create new cultures, and 4. The revitalization of culture and of language have been deeply related with the identities of the peoples.
